Arizona Designated Pilot Examiner Advisory Group Promoting Safety Through Higher Standards

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
The Designated Pilot Examiner Advisory Group is organized to
establish policies and procedures in order to improve
standardization and quality of the process of certifying pilots,
flight instructors, and pilot examiners for the overall benefit
of improving safety in the flying community. In addition the
purpose of the group is to improve the communication process
between the pilot examiners and the FAA and local flight
training organizations for the more timely update and
improvement of the Practical Test Standards so to be more
realistic and provide a better understanding of their goals.
MAKE UP OF THE GROUP:
The group is made up of four committees listed below:
A: Administration
B: Professional-Ethics and Standards
C: Programs and Alliances
D: Membership
The membership of the DPEAG shall be comprised of at least 6
DPE'S from the local FSDO.
The committee chairs will be examiners with at least 2 years of
experience as an examiner.
At least one representative from the FSDO will be requested or
designated to attend the meetings.
RELATIONSHIP OF THE GROUP WITH THE FAA:
The group operates only as an advisory committee to the FAA and
other DPE's. The group was established at the request from the
FAA FSDO for volunteers from the DPE community to help establish
and maintain a higher quality of pilot testing and
standardization. This provides the FAA and the DPE a vehicle to
work more closely together to meet our common goals.
